Grade F and Grade C flyash explained
Standard flyash is categorized into two grades based on calcium content and source coal type. Grade F is low-calcium with primarily pozzolanic properties, while Grade C carries higher calcium with some self-cementing ability. The choice depends on your application, mix design, and strength development timeline.
Grade F Flyash
Produced from burning anthracite or bituminous coal. Lower calcium content means primarily pozzolanic reactivity. Ideal for cement replacement and concrete applications where long-term strength gain is the priority.
Grade C Flyash
Produced from burning lignite or sub-bituminous coal. Higher calcium content provides some self-cementing properties along with pozzolanic activity. Suitable for applications where early strength contribution is beneficial.
